A few weeks ago we found a moderately sized spider making a web in our garage. My 4 year old son has developed an interest in spiders recently and we had a few books from the library all about arachnids. When my son discovered this spider he was very insistent that I look at it because it was the very same spider that was on the cover of one of his library books. Before I could go and see it my 'teacher' needed to find the very book to compare. So, after we searched for the book he led me out to the garage for his impromptu show and tell. I was truly amazed. It was not an ordinary house spider; the kind that's brown that seems to be in every basement bathroom ever built! This spider was called a black and yellow spider. It was very pretty and gross at the same time! In fact, the picture on the book looked identical to the spider and web that we had in our garage. The whole family was most interested in this new visitor who stayed in our garage a few days. Some would say that was a neat coincidence, but I believe that God placed that very specific spider in our garage to show us that He even cares about what we are learning! Being given a living example of such a creation caused me to thank God for caring about what interests my young son.
Thank you God, for spiders!
